We are excited to announce that we’ve won the Aid Innovation Challenge held today at the AidEx Conference in Brussels!
Bringing together development organizations from around the world, AidEx is a leading platform for improving the efficiency of international aid, featuring expert speakers, interactive workshops and an exhibition for novel innovations and programs. The Aid Innovation Challenge is a competition that seeks to find the next big invention to change how aid is delivered.
We’re thrilled to say that our Universal Anaesthesia Machine (UAM) took home this year’s commercial prize and will be showcased at the 2016 AidEx conference. The UAM was designed to improve the delivery of safe anaesthesia and surgery for the roughly five billion people who lack access to adequate surgical care. By combining draw-over and continuous-flow technologies for delivering anaesthesia, the UAM is able to function without electricity and compressed medical gases, which are often unavailable in low-resource hospitals. To date, we’ve equipped more than 120 hospitals in 22 countries with the ability to perform safe surgery using our machine.
We’d also like to applaud Libraries Without Borders and their Ideas Box – the runner up in the Aid Innovation Challenge and an organization that is making tremendous strides in improving access to education for vulnerable communities throughout the world.
Thanks again to the AidEx team for this exciting honor!
