Dr. Wagaki Gicheru

Dr. Wagaki Gicheru is an anesthesiologist who has been practicing in Kenya for the past 20 years. Dr. Gicheru received her Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi (MBChB) and later joined the same institution for her Master’s degree in Medicine (Anesthesia).

For the past 16 years, Dr. Gicheru has worked at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) where she trains mid-level health providers in anesthesia and critical care. She is a medical education enthusiast and has a passion to see medical educators/faculty develop skills in the use of technology and simulation in medical education. She currently leads the eLearning department and coordination of the simulation lab at KMTC.

Dr. Gicheru is a CPOCUS (Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society) master instructor, AHA BLS and ACLS instructor, founding fellow of CANESCA (College of Anaesthesiologist of ESCA), and a budding researcher.

She serves as one of Gradian’s clinical instructors developing basic critical care courses as well as conducting simulation-based critical care trainings for hospitals across Kenya.
